The Great Ouse Marathon is an annual long distance head race over approximately 21.5k. It is run on the first Sunday in September, when the weather is still reasonably kind. The 2019 race will take place on 1 September and we hope that you are busy training and preparing to enter it.
All rowers are welcome to enter, whether you are a competitive crew looking for a demanding race or some serious training for the Boston Marathon, a novice boat looking for the experience or an adaptive rower looking for a challenge. The Great Ouse Marathon is as challenging as you wish to make it.
As previous years, we have not put a limit on entries, but will monitor number and type of entries (managing 180 single sculls would present a different challenge to 180 eights); and we may have to close entries early if we feel the number of rowers will exceed our facilities. So – to avoid disappointment, please get your entry in early, particularly large boats and clubs with multiple crews.
Please note that whilst we will continue to start slower categories of boat earlier, in response to feedback from competitors, we will put more emphasis on starting crews in a similar category together, rather than relying on estimated times for individual boats.
